A Year in the Death of Jack Richards

A professor of theology in his 50s, Jack Richards has been mentally unstable since the abduction of his daughter, and the subsequent dissolution of his marriage. Reality may be blurring into the unreal as Jack believes that he has deliberately made himself the target of a cult, whose members accept him as their "king" (he is given a “castle”, “concubines”, “gifts”, etc.), and then will murder him as an atonement for their annual sins.
